Amitabh Bachchan Calls Hosting KBC 18 ‘Heart-Breaking’: Here’s Why
Amitabh Bachchan has opened up about the emotional side of hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 18. The veteran actor revealed that some contestants arrive with deeply personal and serious stories, making it difficult for him to manage his emotions while continuing to host the show.
In a blog post dated September 7, 2026, Bachchan described the experience as “heart-breaking.” However, he did not reveal the identities or private details of the contestants he was referring to.
Why Does Amitabh Bachchan Find KBC 18 Heart-Breaking?
The reason is connected to the personal experiences shared by some of the KBC 18 contestants. According to Bachchan, certain contestants come with stories so serious that it becomes difficult for him to manage his emotions while continuing with the programme.
His remarks make it clear that the emotional challenge is not related to the quiz or prize money. Instead, it comes from hearing the real-life struggles of people who appear on the show.
Amitabh Bachchan Chose Not to Reveal the Contestants’ Stories
Bachchan did not identify the contestants whose experiences affected him. He also avoided sharing details that could reveal their private circumstances.
This is important because it would be inaccurate to assume that his statement was about a particular contestant or episode. Unless Bachchan or the show’s makers provide further details, the specific stories remain private.
KBC 18 Is More Than Just a Quiz Show
While Kaun Banega Crorepati is primarily a quiz programme, the conversations between Amitabh Bachchan and contestants have always been an important part of its appeal.
Contestants often speak about their families, careers, financial struggles, ambitions and difficult periods in their lives. These conversations give viewers a glimpse into the people behind the answers on the hot seat.
For Bachchan, hearing those experiences directly can make KBC 18 hosting emotionally demanding. He has to acknowledge a contestant’s story while also keeping the game moving.
