‘My God I am so glad I wasn’t on any outdoor with him’- Alok Nath’s onscreen daughter Renuka Shahane speaks up
Alok Nath has been accused of rape, sexual harassment by not one but many women from the industry. Here's how his onscreen daughter Renuka Sahane reacted to the whole revelation...
Had Tara writer-producer Vinta Nanda not come out in the open about Alok Nath sexually harassing and raping her after getting drunk, perhaps this ugly truth about Bollywood’s so-called ‘Sanskaari Bapuji’ would have always remained under the carpet. But guess with the #MeToo movement gaining momentum in India, we finally have women speaking up fearlessly and exposing every man who took privilege in violating women’s consent and making it unsafe for them to work in an environment like this. After Vinta Nanda, actress Sandhya Mridul and Navneet Nishaan too revealed their horrific #MeToo stories at the hands of Alok Nath.
When Firstpost contacted Renuka Sahane, who has worked with Alok Nath in so many films including the famous one being Hum Aapke Hai Kaun!, she was shocked but equally relieved that thankfully she never went on an outdoor shoot with him as she said, “My God! I am so glad I wasn’t on any outdoor with him ever.”
Renuka feels that Alok Nath is a really great human being until he gets drunk and somewhat slips into a state of split personality. “My experience working with Alok Nath has been very good but I have heard that he has two faces. People say that he can’t really handle his drinks. When he is drunk, he becomes a totally different person. His Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde personality is known to his colleagues. I heard many such incidents after I had finished working with him in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and tele-serial Imtihaan, in which he played my father. In Imtihaan, our father-daughter bond was so strong and it was so wonderful working with him, but then I started hearing stories that he harasses women when he is drunk. It was so shocking for me because I couldn’t put these two faces together.”
